History of Laurels for Leaders
Washington-Lincoln Laurels for Leaders was established in 1957, initiated by the late Dr. Frank Lowe, then president of the San Diego Board of Education, to honor and recognize the achievements of ASB presidents of San Diego County high schools. The Kiwanis Club of San Diego began hosting this event years later.
The ASB Presidents are honored guests of generous sponsors from various sectors of our community from business, industry, religion, education, government, military and service organizations. Community and corporate sponsor contributions make financial support to the students possible.
The Washington-Lincoln Laurels for Leaders Foundation is a non-profit organization (501-c3) governed by a board of directors consisting of school officials, public and private community leaders and the Kiwanis Club of San Diego.
They operate from the Kiwanis Club office and can be reached at 619-222-1924.
